Welcome to George’s Soccer Supply, your one stop shop for all your soccer needs since 1978! Today, our name and reputation as a leading retailer in the market has stood the test of time. It’s amazing and rewarding to have the children of players’ come in that were our original customers back in the day.

After 38 years, our flagship store location in Lathrup Village has closed. This ending will make way for new beginnings, and our larger store in Troy on Rochester Road will continue servicing the soccer community as always under the same ownership that opened George’s Soccer in 1978. We thank and appreciate all of our customers for their loyalty through our journey. Our Troy store location is just a hop, skip, and a jump away, up I-75 from the old Lathrup location.

About Us

George Wohlwend played professionally in Switzerland from 1957 -63' but came to the U.S. in the mid 60’s because of a career-ending foot injury.

Getting Started

After years of inactivity, George began playing on a men’s team in the Metro Detroit area. During this time, he and many of his fellow soccer players could not find any accessible soccer equipment. As the game of soccer began growing in the mid 70’s, he saw the need for a soccer specialty store.

Soccer Forever

George’s Soccer Supply opened its doors in 1978 and has been serving the soccer community ever since. George passed away after losing a long battle with cancer in 1999. The family business is owned and operated by his daughter and son-in-law.
